Turkey is becoming a firm favourite with international film-makers, as well as ones from Hollywood, with a number of movies set to be filmed in the popular country.
Records from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism show that in 2022 a total of 233 projects which included 18 feature films, 102 documentary films, 46 television films, 30 television series, 27 commercial films and 10 music videos, were filmed in Turkey, a 46% increase from 2021.
Turkey has hosted a number of huge movie productions which include James Bond’s “Skyfall”, “Inferno”, “Charlie’s Angels” and the award winning “Argo”.
Top movie director Guy Ritchie has been filming his new World War 2 movie “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” in Antalya with parts of the movie being filmed at the Expo Fairground. Reports state around 15 million dollars has been spent on the production in Turkey.
Ritchie also filmed two other movies in Turkey, one being “Operation Fortune” which starred action man Jason Statham and the other was “Tiger 3” starring Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
More movies are set to be shot in Turkey under the initiative of the “Foreign Film Production Support” which was introduced under the new cinema legislation and is what has given Turkey the platform as a key destination for film productions.
