Top 5 day-trips to enjoy from Bodrum

1.) A boat trip from Bodrum to Datca

Catch a ferry-boat from the centre of Bodrum and journey for 105 minutes over to the delightful town of Datca.

Datca is a lovely town offering stunning beaches, cobbles streets, lovely shops and cafes and historic ruins of Knidos. Datca has some fantastic swimming spots located about an hour from the town on route to the Knidos ruins. You can enjoy taking a dip in the clear blue water, enjoy exploring the ancient sites and then afterwards enjoy a delicious seafood lunch.

The ferry-boat sails from Bodrum at 9am which is the earliest time and the latest return is 6pm. The ferry-boat docks in Karakoy which is located 10 km from the main port of old Datca.

A car is handy to have so you can explore all of the different areas in Datca, otherwise there is a minibus service which you can catch in the centre Datca.     

The ferry-boat costs 385 TL per person and 1,300 TL if you decide to board with a car.

2.) Bodrum to Bafa Lake in Didim

Journey 80 km from Bodrum’s centre over to Didim where you will find the wonderful ancient site Bafa Lake. The site is filled with flora and fauna and incredible rock formations. The main town best to explore the area is Kapikiri which offers boulders filled with cave drawings, plus many other great historic sites to explore such as Herakleia and Latmos as well as the Seven Monastery.

You can also venture a little further out to explore the ancient Miletus theatre of Didim or even visit the sandy beaches in Altinkum. While in this area a visit to the Temple of Apollo is a must.    

3.) Bodrum to Mazı in Akbuk

Take a drive along Bodrum’s southern coast to the picturesque village of Akbuk. The drive will take you through Mumcular then onto Mazi where you can stop off and visit the farmers market if you choose to journey on a Friday. From Mazi you will pass through Cokertme which offers lovely eateries serving the fresh catch of the day.

Finally you will drive through Oren then you will be in beautiful Akbuk, a quiet and peaceful village with a stunning bay, lovely beach clubs and delightful eateries.

The distance from the centre of Bodrum to Akbuk is around 90 km.  

4.) Bodrum to Uyku Vadisi in Iassos

Venture over to Iassos to explore the natural beauty of Uyku Vadis with its enchanting waterfalls and caves, plus there are some splendid restaurants and cafes here too.

This magnificent area is located in Gokceler Canyon around 45 km from the town centre of Bodrum. You can also pay a visit to Incirliin Magarasi, a fantastic show cave located just 4 km away. Afterwards travel 30 minutes over to Iassos, a lovely area with nice restaurants and it is also home to the archaeological site of Lassos and the open-air Lassos Fish Bazaar Museum. The area also boasts the most incredible sunsets which you can enjoy while dining at one of the local restaurants.

5.) Bodrum to the Greek Islands

Bodrum offers easy access over to the Greek Islands. You can take a boat from the centre of Bodrum and be in the beautiful Greek island of Kos in just 20 minutes. There is a ferry-boat leaving Bodrum at 8.30am and returns at 6pm.   

There is another port on the Bodrum Peninsula in Turgutreis which offers ferry services to the Dodecanese Islands of Leros and Kalymnos.

Note that ferry service runs from Bodrum to Kos all year round, whereas ferries to Leros and Kalymnos will stop at the end of September.

A boat trip to Kos costs 25 euros round trip, while trips to Leros and Kalymnos can be around 75 euros there and back.
