According to the recent information that’s been released by the Anadolu Agency Brits made up a third of the total foreigners visiting the resort province of Mugla between January and August of this year. Part of the Turquoise coast and famous for its gorgeous landscapes, beautiful beaches, Mediterranean lifestyle and upmarket resort towns, the province welcomed over 2.4m visitors in total, resulting in a 15% increase on the previous year.

As well as the 340,000 rooms that are available across the province’s hotels, there’s also an increasing number of rentals that are available especially during the summer months which is great news for those looking at alternative options, plus, with the increased visitor numbers it’s also extremely positive for those who have been thinking about renting out their properties during the busier season.

Brits led the way in terms of arrivals with over 1m tourists for the first eight months of the year, however there were also an increased number of visitors from Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, USA and Russia. Mehmet Ayyıldız, the President of the Marmaris Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, was overjoyed with the figures stating that ‘it encourages and motivates us for the new tourism promotions we are due to carry out for 2024.’ He also went on to add that the tourism season is set to continue for around another two months, after which they expect to see a further increase in the final numbers.

Just some of the resort towns within the province of Mugla include Bodrum, Fethiye, Oludeniz, Marmaris, and Milas with tourist sites such as The Temple of Zeus, The Temple of Apollo, Lycian Rock Tombs, Halicarnassus Theatre, Bodrum Castle and Kayakoy village.

The province of Mugla isn’t just a fabulous place to visit as a tourist, it’s also a fabulous area in which to call home, with many expats choosing to purchase property here for both holidays and retirement purposes.
