Figures released from official data from the statistical institute show a large increase of 115.8% jump in domestic tourism spending in Quarter 2. With a staggering figure spent of 103.1 billion TL around 3 billion USD for April May and June.
Domestic trips for one or two nights also rose in the same period, with package trips and excursions also rising in the same period also many were visits to family and friends.
Turkish tourism authorities had set a target for domestic and foreign visitors of 60 million for the year 2024, this looks set to be beaten by the end of the year.
With the Domestic market still growing each year, and more flights worldwide arriving, these figures are set to rise and be broken over the coming years.
