Turkey welcomes 28 million visitors

Turkey welcomes around 28 million foreign visitors so far this year. According to figures released on August 21st by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Turkey received 27.86 million foreign visitors between January and July of 2026.

With 3.67 million tourists, or 13.16% of all foreign visits, Russia continued to be the biggest source market in the first seven months of the year.

With 3.41 million visits and a 12.24% share, Germany came in second, followed by the United Kingdom with 2.12 million visitors and a 7.62% share.

With 1.53 million visitors and a 5.49 percent share, Iran was the fourth-largest source market; Bulgaria came in fifth with 1.49 million visitors and 5.37 percent of arrivals.

With 10.54 million visitors, or 37.84 percent of all international arrivals, Istanbul had the most foreign visitors between January and July.

With 7.76 million visitors and a 27.85% share, Antalya came in second. Muğla attracted 1.70 million visitors (6.11 percent), İzmir 841,014 tourists (3.02 percent), and Edirne 2.46 million visitors (8.83 percent).

With 1.02 million tourists, Russian nationals made up 14.38% of all international arrivals throughout the month.

The United Kingdom ended in third place with 544,077 visitors, or 7.67 percent of all arrivals, while Germany came in second with 968,203 visitors and a 13.64 percent share.

Iran trailed Poland, which sent 321,590 visitors and accounted for 4.53 percent of July arrivals, with 322,256 visitors and a 4.54 percent share.
