Sunday saw the opening of Istanbul Airport’s Third Runaway, which will increase the capactity of hourly aircraft , take off / landing from 80 to 120 planes.
This in turn will reduce taxi time, for incoming and departing domestic flights by 50%, which has been badly needed. The runway is located to the east of the Terminal Building.
With the addition of this new runway, the average capacity , will be more than 2,800 landings daily.
