Congratulations are in order to Volkan Bozkir a former Turkish Ambassador who becomes President of the 75th UN General Assembly, he will be the first Turkish National to head the General Assembly, taking officce in September for a year.
Congratulations came from far and wide on his appointment, spomeone with an independent voice, and someone who will stand for diplomacy. The european union looks forward to working with all on international peace and security. Bozkir was elected with a large majority vote recieving 178 votes for this prestigous job.
He thanked all concerned for his election, in the year of the 75 anniversary fo the UN, and stated he hopes to guide adn make every effort to contribute to internatinal peae in wait are challanging times ahead.
Bozkir comes with plenty of experience for the job having spent nearly 40 years in the foreign service which included posts in New York, Germany, Baghdad and Romania, along with other posts as Ambassador to the EU. he is currently Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament for the country’s AK Party.
