Health Tourism is becoming ever more popular in Turkiye with approximately 1m tourists visiting the country in 2022 for Hair Transplants. Add to that a very successful year for both Spa Tourism & Dental Treatment, and it’s no surprise that the Ministry of Health has set a target of $5bn worth of revenue for 2023.

The President of the Turkish Health Tourism association estimated that around half of the turnover achieved for 2022 ($4bn) was for Hair Transplants so assuming that each person pays around $2k, they can safely say that they had reached the 1m mark by the end of 2022.

Hair transplants are generally leading the way for Turkiye’s Health Tourism achievements, however, Dental services are becoming more widespread with a record number of new Dental offices opening throughout the country. What comes now of course, is the educational & investment side ensuring that illegal operations are shut down and systems are put in place to stop rogue traders both within the country itself and those who travel to perform outside of Turkiye.

As previously mentioned the immediate goal for 2023 is to hit a figure of $5bn, however, the long term goal is to achieve a turnover of $20bn, all of this at a time when investment in Turkiye is high, and Istanbul Airport was recently named the busiest in 2022.

Eurocontrol’s detailed report of the Busiest Airports showed Istanbul in first place with an average of 1156 flights per day, closely followed by Amsterdam with 1140, Paris with 1122, Frankfurt with 1048 and London with 1042.
