Fabulous news emerging for Turkey this week, as according to the Canadian Travel Magazine ´Travelweek´ the country received an increase of 214% in Global Tourism reservation bookings when compared to 2017. The total number of tourists descending on Turkey now stands at 21.6 million, which is an annual increase of 11.48% when looking at the number arriving last July.
Recent improvements in the economy and a big effort on Infrastructure improvements has increased the interest of Tour operations and made it an attractive prospect for tourists. Sandra Carvao who is the Market Trends and Competitiveness Chief of the UN World Tourism Organisation mentioned that ´Turkey has a wide and unique offering of cultural, heritage, urban, sun and sea tourism products´ which has always meant there is lots to do and see for every traveller.
Now being labelled as the ´Breakout Destination´ it´s the new place to be, and with current reservations continuing to rise, it looks like 2019 could be even better. This was backed by Turkey´s ambassador in Ottawa Selcuk Unal who said that things ´seemed beyond positive.´
