Tourists in Turkey increased by 8% in April

Türkiye’s tourism sector continues to gain momentum in 2025, with official figures revealing a robust 8% year-on-year increase in foreign tourist arrivals for the month of April. According to the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, over 3.9 million international visitors arrived in the country during April, up 8% in the same period last year.

Istanbul, the cultural and economic heart of Türkiye, retained its top position as the most visited city, drawing in nearly 1.2 million tourists in April alone. Meanwhile, Antalya, Türkiye’s tourism capital on the Mediterranean coast, saw a notable boost as well, welcoming sun-seekers and all-inclusive holidaymakers from across Europe and beyond.

Germany, Russia, and the United Kingdom remained the leading source markets for Türkiye in April. German tourists topped the list, followed closely by Russian and British nationals. The surge from these key markets reflects the country’s continued appeal as a value-for-money destination offering rich culture, Mediterranean charm, and a variety of holiday options.

April’s 8% rise in tourist arrivals to 3.9 million marks another positive milestone for Türkiye’s dynamic tourism sector. As travel demand continues to rise globally, Türkiye is well-positioned to attract even more visitors in the months ahead, reaffirming its status as one of the world’s most compelling travel destinations.
