The Ultimate Guide Göcek and Fethiye

The latest installment of BBC News’ well-liked travel series Ultimate, My Ultimate Turkey, transports viewers to the idyllic coves of Göcek and Fethiye. Along with the Lycian Way, this route highlights the history, culture, and scenic beauty of the area.

The most recent installment of BBC News’ well-liked travel series Ultimate, My Ultimate Turkey, transports viewers to the distinctive coastal communities of Göcek and Fethiye in southwest Turkey.  Viewers can experience both historical exploration and breathtaking beauty along this route, which includes portions of the Lycian Way.

Nikki Bedi takes viewers on a tour of the most unique locations along the picturesque Fethiye and Göcek shores, highlighting the area’s artistic and cultural landscape and motivating viewers.  Bedi, a fervent lover of the arts and culture, turns this trip into an enthralling exploration by showcasing to viewers the most distinctive experiences Turkey has to offer.

Hidden beauty and protected bays

Exploring the hidden beauty of protected bays, Nikki Bedi, the producer and presenter of the BBC World Service’s cultural programme The Arts Hour, departs Göcek in a traditional wooden Turkish gulet.  There will also be stops at Cleopatra’s Bath Bay, which illuminates history with its Lycian remains, and Bedri Rahmi Bay, which is famous for its rock paintings by the well-known novelist and artist Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu.

Filming for Nikki started in the deserted Kayaköy neighbourhood of Fethiye. Butterfly Valley extends to a special location close to Ölüdeniz that can only be reached by water.

“I love experiencing the cultural dynamism of different cities around the world,” Nikki Bedi remarked.  But when I cruised along the Turquoise Coast in a luxurious gulet for My Ultimate Turkey, I was struck by the natural splendour. I ventured into the outdoors, out of my comfort zone, and made connections with local artists.  I will always remember the intense feelings I experienced at Kayaköy’s “ghost village.”

“From Fethiye’s paradise bays and forests, ancient heritage and art centers, this route will introduce the BBC’s global audience to the unique adventure that Türkiye has to offer,” stated Emma De’Ath, Commissioning Editor at BBC Studios.
