The Turkish Detective on BBC2

The new crime series which aired on 7th July has been adapted from Inspector Ikmen, an award-winning novel collection by author Barbara Nadel. 

The series, which is set in modern-day Istanbul, follows British Detective Mehmet Suleyman, played by Killing Eve actor Ethan Kai, as he arrives in the city to join a homicide unit ran by Inspector Cetin Ikmen, played by Haluk Bilginer.  

The series follows the ups and downs of the two characters as they solve crimes.

The BBC stated that each story is “heavily rooted in the varied culture and history of Istanbul and set against the frenzied world of modern-day Turkey.

Sue Deeks the Head of BBC Programme Acquisition  stated that “Not only does The Turkish Detective provide a compelling, multi-layered crime thriller, but is set in stunning Istanbul, a vibrant contemporary city that also reflects the cultural influences of a rich and varied historical past – it’s a truly fascinating combination.”

There will be a total of 8 episodes in the series which will be released on Sundays and Mondays.
