The Teknofest, one of the largest aviation events in the world, took place at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. The Teknofest is organised by the T3 Foundation and the Industry and Technology Ministry.
The six day event saw thousands of areospace and technology enthusiasts gather together to enjoy a great variety of activities such as air shows featuring warplanes, aerial vehicles and helicopters, seminars as well as fairs and plenty of competitions with many categories which include helicopter design, flying cars, rockets, robotics, smart transportation and underwater systems.
After the opening ceremony took place the fighter jets of the Turkish and Azerbaijani air forces put on an incredible air show over Istanbul’s Bosphorus. Taking part in the show was the MiG-29 aircraft of Azerbaijani, F-16 and F-4 jets of Soloturk and the Turkish air force aerobatics display team.
Due to the pandemic around 100,000 visitors where allowed in an area of 450,000 square meters , where as last year the event was virtual.
The interest in the event has increased by the year. A total of over 200,000 students applied for the competitions this year.
The chairman of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation, Selcuk Bayraktar said “new ideas and new inventions that move the world forward come from start-ups and young people.” He also stated to the younger generation “don’t let the obstacles that come your way discourage you.”
