Sales of Electric Vehicles in Turkey in 2025

Sales of electric vehicles (EVs) double in Turkey in 2025. Sales from January to November exceeded 166,000 cars compared to the same period last year, indicating that the recent boom and the adoption of cleaner energy cars are still ongoing.

According to figures issued on Tuesday by the Automotive Distributors’ and Mobility Association (ODMD), EV sales from January to November totaled 166,665 units, up from 83,298 units the previous year.  Simultaneously, the figures indicated that overall auto sales continued to be strong in November, reaching a new monthly high.

According to ODMD, sales of passenger automobiles and light commercial vehicles increased 9.82% year over year to 132,984 units in November.  Approximately 442,650 gasoline automobiles, 251,992 hybrid cars, 69,741 diesel cars, and 7,399 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cars were sold nationwide between January and November, according to automotive data alone.

During that time, about 164,665 fully electric cars were sold; when extended range EVs are taken into account, the total comes to 166,665 vehicles, or 17.8% of the Turkish auto market.

Sales of gasoline and diesel vehicles, however, kept dropping. Sales of gasoline-powered vehicles decreased by 15.5% during the first 11 months of the year, while sales of diesel vehicles decreased by 18.8%.

Sales of LPG vehicles increased by 33.9%, those of hybrid vehicles by 71.3%, and those of completely electric vehicles by 111.4%.  Sales of diesel vehicles are declining as a result of manufacturers throughout the world ceasing to produce them.

Between January and November, sales of gasoline-powered vehicles made up 47.2% of the Turkish market, down from 62% during the same time the previous year. Diesel vehicles’ market share decreased from 10.1% to 7.4%, and LPG vehicles accounted for 0.8% of the market.

Over the same time period, the market share of fully electric cars increased from 9.2% to 17.6% and that of hybrids from 17.4% to 26.9%. All EVs, including fully electric, extended-range, and hybrid models, accounted for 44.7% of the market with 418,657 units.  Therefore, four out of ten vehicles sold in Turkey between January and November were either hybrid or electric.

Sales of plug-in hybrids reached 42,857 units during that time, accounting for 4.6% of the market and a 658.9% increase over the same period the previous year.  In November, 32,263 hybrid vehicles were bought by consumers, representing a 30.8% market share, while 17,892 completely electric vehicles, or 17.1% of the Turkish auto market, were sold.
