Renting in Turkey

Owing to the short notice given to owners to obtain a Rental Permit in order to comply with the “Air B&B law in Turkey” which covers all vacation rentals of up to 100 days, it appears that the Supreme Court may grant a 12-month grace period to those who are currently renting out their properties, subject to confirmation from a meeting scheduled for the coming few days.

If this occurs, it will not only give the authorities time to properly set up their infrastructure, but it will also give foreign-based property owners the chance to arrange for their property to have the necessary safety equipment, POAs, and other documents before the end of 2024. It will also allow them to obtain written permission to rent from their neighbours, if necessary, and site/complex managers.

Of course, if an owner plans to rent out their home for the first time in 2024 and is not yet registered with the Giykimbil system, they must first seek a permit.
