President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has just introduced the new Basaksehir-Kayasehir metro line in Istanbul.

The new metro line has been completed by the Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry, taking over the project from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The President spoke at the opening stating that “Over 50% of Istanbul’s rail network will have been completed by our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.”

He went on to say “Some people only talk, some do. Some serve. We have never been like those who talk with no action, we are people of action.”

The new Basaksehir-Kayasehir metro line has added four new stations to the rail network in Istanbul. The new line holds a capacity of 1 million passengers.

It has been reported by Minister Adil Karaismailoglu that the trains which have been designed to travel 80 kilometres per hour can carry a total 70,000 passengers.

The new metro line will connect the city with Cam and Sakura City Hospital, plus there will be access to the airport as well.
