Renewed public confidence in Turkey’s growing economy since the pandemic, positive forecasts in development and strong campaigns have seen the automotive industry grow by a significant 24.2% in February of this year, when compared to the same period in 2020, and figures show around 58,500 cars were sold across both business & consumer brands.

The second increase in a row and the strongest February since 2011, further interest in second hand cars is expected, as will the sale of new cars when current restrictions are lifted and brands kick off their advertising campaigns once again.

Murat Sahsuvaroglu is the Chairperson of the Automotive Dealers Association, and he commented that ‘sales have increased at a time when Europe has only seen a decline. This demonstrates economic dynamics and continued interest in the sector. Brands mobilised sales by compromising profits.’

Currently in Turkey, there’s around 600,000 cars listed for resale, with around one in six of those listed for urgent sale. Prices will stablise and pandemic restrictions will ease, but either way it’s a boost and it should keep heading in the right direction.
