New TechVisa program launched in Turkey

On Monday, Turkey introduced a new TechVisa program designed to simplify work permits for foreign entrepreneurs and professionals with specialised skills aimed at attracting high-value technical start-up businesses.

This new visa, which has been created by the Industry and Technology Ministry in collaboration with the Labor and Social Security Ministry, provides a three year work permit offering a significant opportunity for those participating in high-value sectors that set up businesses in Turkey.

The program has been developed over the past two years. It offers substantial incentives and benefits such as corporate tax exemptions to businesses which were set up in incubators or tech parks, plus there are also income tax waivers for employees.

Speaking at the launch of the new visa program, which was hosted at Istanbul Airport, was Mehmet Fatih Kacir, the Industry and Technology Minister, whom stated that the aim is for foreign entrepreneurs and professionals “to feel at home and make long term plans in Turkey.”

He went on to say that “The biggest beneficiaries of the program will undoubtedly be Turkish tech start-ups and our skilled workforce.”

Kacır emphasized that the new TechVisa program represents a pivotal step toward Turkey’s goal of becoming a global technology center. Kacir stated that that as the country’s tech ecosystem expands, more and more success stories will be revealed, fostering stronger connections between investors and start-ups.
