Turkey is now looking into doing more for its cruise tourism. It has been reported that the government are going to be building modern ports particularly in the city of Istanbul where many large passenger ships will be able to dock.
Cruise operators have began adding Istanbul onto their routes again which is great news and once Galata Port is completed and the Yenikapi Port is put into operation, then Istanbul will once again become an important destination for the cruise tourism industry.
The government are hoping to have a positive outcome by 2020. Cruise companies have to be convinced to re-route their ships to the ports of Turkey and to know that there is a much greater advantage to have a travel route with Turkish ports than a travel route without.
