You can open a bank account at one of the many banks in North Cyprus; show your passport and a copy of your rental agreement or property purchase contract.

Before you travel to North Cyprus we advise you to take out travel and medical insurance. If you have a residency, you are permitted to use public hospitals. To apply for residency, you must first have health insurance in place. You can apply for the North Cyprus state health insurance, which will cost you roughly £45 a year, at the Koop Bank in Nicosia.

Foreigners can purchase property in North Cyprus without limitations on land, villa, apartments, commercial or Investment property.

Taxes and Duties are lower in North Cyprus than in most European countries. North Cyprus is currently going through a growth period and people purchasing over the next few years can count on an excellent return on their investment.

Currently British passport holders do not pay for a visa for entry to North Cyprus.

The flight time from the UK is 4½ hours and flights are from many UK airports.
A typical three course meal without wine would cost around £8

A bottle of local wine would cost from £4 and a pint of beer £2.50

In North Cyprus the currency is Turkish Lira, however Sterling is accepted in most places. Visa and MasterCard is also widely taken.

Turkish is the national language spoken in North Cyprus however English is widely spoken.

Water shortages do occur in North Cyprus, mainly in high season, and may result in shortages for short periods of time.
Don’t forget you will need an adaptor for your electric appliances in North Cyprus

The voltage is 240 volts, the same as the UK and British 3-pin rectangular blade plugs, so you don’t have to take an adaptor for UK electrical devices, but take one just in case.

As in other Mediterranean countries mosquitos are present, ensure you take a good repellent, and use an electric machine in your room.

The climate of North Cyprus is good all year round however in the summer is not unusual for temperatures to pass 35°C.

The Dolmus (bus) is the local form of transport; these follow a specific route and are more economical than a taxi. This method of transport is very cheap and a 30 minute journey costs less than £1.

You must have at least three months left on your passport when you leave North Cyprus.
