Located perfectly between the Sea & Mountains Kalkan is fast becoming one of Turkey´s best all round destinations due it´s fabulous water sports & sailing centres, mountain activities, historical sites, famous markets & attractive property prices. It´s such a popular location that out of all the diving centres in Turkey (254 in total) 83 of them are on the Kalkan Coast.
History also plays its part in this beautiful part of the Mediterranean, and Kalkan not only houses its very own Amphitheatre but it also boasts World Heritage Sites at the ruins of Xanthos-Letoon, which make for a fabulous and fulfilling trip. Equally exciting are the Roman & Lycian ruins just 15 minutes’ walk from Patara Beach.
For those just wishing to soak in the sun, there are plenty of Beach options, including pebble & sand. Limanagazi offers uniqueness as it can only be reached by a shuttle bus, Kaputas is of Turkey´s most photographed Beaches and Patara Beach is part of the National Park.
A lively main square has a fabulous array of restaurants serving local produce, Café´s, Bars and shops, and on Friday´s there is a very colourful market where the locals sell their homegrown & home crafted wares, certainly worth a visit. One can also take a ferry across to the lovely Greek Island of Kastellorizo, perfect for a short day trip.
