Island hopping between Turkey and Greece is a new trend and its becoming very popular. In terms of maritime travel, the 2025 season was exceptional, particularly for routes connecting Greece and Turkey. Traffic from Turkey to Greece increased by an average of 35%, with certain routes reaching record highs of 42%. The number of Turkish Nationals receiving Door Visas increased by 28% at the end of August.
By August 31, the Passport Control Office in Rhodes, Greece, had granted 27,000 visas to Turkish citizens. Despite its apparent modesty, this figure has a big impact. In addition to Door Visas, an average of 55,000 Turkish visitors came to Rhodes, with a preference for the city and an average 60% increase in lodging expenditures over other visitors. This is due to the fact that they are private visitors rather than customers of travel operators. Their usual activities included dining at restaurants, going to bars, and shopping every day while renting automobiles for roughly three days.
The Ferry runs throughout the year from Bodrum to Kos – also from Kuşadası to Samos. Both routes are immensely popular.
During the season, these vacationers frequently made two or three trips to the island. This group is very profitable for the island’s economy because their average daily expenditure was assessed to be 70% more than that of other tourists.
