Mavişehir in Didim to get a 20 million Lira upgrade. By May 2026, a large 20 million lira project to renovate Mavişehir, including the well-known marketplace, will be finished. The project will be carried out by Didim Municipality with the intention of resolving long-standing infrastructure issues related to rainwater drainage while establishing a communal living area.
The project will contain an 8655 square meter parking lot that can accommodate 276 cars, restaurant spaces, a 560 square meter children’s playground, a 700-meter walking path, and a 600-meter bicycle path.
A total of 11,305 square meters of green space will be created, providing a holistic landscape design. Renovation work will also be carried out within the Mavişehir Bazaar. Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay stated: “With these renovations, we aim to create an environment where citizens visiting the area can spend their time more comfortably, safely, and enjoyably.”
According to the mayor, Mavişehir’s long-standing rainfall drainage issue will also be remedied. It was observed that the infrastructure issues in the neighborhood will be much reduced by the rainwater discharge projects that will be completed in the parking lot.
Mayor Gençay met with members of the press to provide information about the municipality’s ongoing and planned investments. She added: “We have completed the work here in the reed bed. There will be playgrounds, parks, and green areas. In addition, there will be bicycle paths in the park opposite this place. It will be a beautiful entrance. We will also do this project ourselves. We will complete all the work with an investment of 15 to 20 million TL.
“This includes the Mavişehir Market place, and we will finish all these works in May. Didim will be open to service; everything we do will contribute.” It is anticipated that after the project is finished, Mavişehir’s infrastructure issues will be mostly fixed and the area’s social life would be revitalized.
She said: “We are treating every neighborhood in Didim with an equal service approach. Our Mavişehir neighborhood is gaining the value it deserves with its potential. With this project, we will make our neighborhood more livable, more modern, and more aesthetically pleasing.”
