Cruise Ships to Return to Turkey

It has been reported that cruise ships are going to be sailing back into the ports of Turkey. It has been announced that they will be returning to destinations such as Kusadasi, Bodrum,Izmir and Antalya and it is said that leading tourism officials are hoping the industry will be back to its full potential by the year 2019.

The number of cruise tourists decreased to 306,000 in 2017 from almost two million in 2015, but now with Turkey’s security back on an even path cruise-goers from all over the world are showing their interest in the Turkish Aegean and the Mediterranean which is pushing cruise operators to add Turkey back onto their routes. It is reported that almost half a million cruise passengers will be visiting Turkey this year.

Reports state that the luxury ship Azamara Journey, part of the Royal Caribbean Cruises, is set to dock in Kusadasi this very month and they have stated that they are planning a much larger number of tours to Turkey in the year 2020. TUI ships have already been spotted in Bodrum.

The Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that it will be adding Kusadasi to its route this year and MSC Cruises will be making trips to Izmir and Antalya in the year 2019. By the year 2020 Holland American Line has also said that it will also be returning to ports around Turkey.
