Turkish resorts will be seeing cruise ships in their ports again. It has been reported that Tourism sector representatives are estimating that 275 cruise ships with 400,000 passengers will be docking in Turkish cities throughout this year. Cruise ships will dock particularly in the ports of Marmaris, Bodrum and Kusadasi.
Last week saw the first cruise ship of 2019 arrive in Istanbul bringing 750 tourists. Cruise ships returning to Istanbul are expected to make around 30 rounds by the end of this year and it has been reported that about 30,000 cruise tourists will be coming over to Istanbul this year. Tourism sector representatives are expecting 370 cruise ships of about 550,000 passengers docking in Istanbul in 2020 when the Galataport Port opens.
Since the start of the summer season we have seen tourists flocking over to Turkey and now with the cruise line beginning to revive, this will mean great things for the local tradesmen. Tourists from the cruise line tend to shop around the city all day long, some spending on average $800 to $1000 per person and it has been reported that approximately $400 million in revenue is to be expected this year from cruise tourism.
The number of cruise ship tourists is expected to increase to 550,000 in 2020 and a whopping 2 million in 2021.
