China and Fethiye in Turkey to forge tourism and cultural links. On July 9–10, a prominent team from the People’s Republic of China is expected to visit Fethiye, marking a significant advancement in the town’s growing cultural and tourism ties with China.
The expedition, which will comprise roughly forty officials and guests for a two-day schedule of official meetings and cultural events, will be led by Jiang Xuebin, the Chinese ambassador to Ankara.
One of the key aspects of the visit will be the official installation of new Chinese-language road and direction signs across Fethiye. The initiative follows a unanimous decision made by the Fethiye Municipal Council last year to improve accessibility for Chinese visitors.
The signs will be put up at important tourist locations, historical sites, and visitor hubs to help Chinese tourists explore the region and show Fethiye’s commitment to welcoming foreign visitors. Beaches and Islands
The cultural program will conclude with a special sound, music, and light spectacular at Telmessos Ancient Theatre on July 9.
The event will be presented by thirty Beijing university students, ensuring a memorable evening of artistic exchanges for both residents and visitors. The concert is expected to add a significant Chinese cultural element to one of Fethiye’s most significant historical locations.
The visit, which is the first time a Chinese ambassador has visited Fethiye on official business, is expected to improve the town’s standing overseas and open up new tourism prospects, according to local officials.
Cultural diplomacy, sister-city initiatives, and tourism collaborations—with a focus on attracting more visitors from the Chinese market—are expected to strengthen the growing relationship with China, according to municipal leaders.
The two-day visit is seen by many as a major step in improving Fethiye’s reputation abroad and fortifying its cultural and commercial ties to China.
