Celebrations happening in Turkey this festive season

Turkey offers a host of festivities for all Ex Pats to celebrate the holidays and the end of the year.

Let’s take a look at all the celebrations taking place throughout the festive period.

Istanbul will be hosting for its third consecutive year its annual Christmas Market at the Four Seasons Bosphorus. The Market will offer around 100 stands consisting of international treats like gingerbread cookies, French croissants and German Frankfurter hotdogs a long with gift stalls selling unique products. There will also be workshops,  musical performances, a small ice skating ring and even a Ferris wheel set up on the Bosphorus. There may even be a surprise visit from Santa Claus. The Christmas Market will be taking place December 16th till the 25th.

High-end restaurant Dalida Datca will be hosting a market during the festive holiday. There will be over 100 stands offering treats, sweets and gifts. You can reach Datca via a ferry operating a few times per week. The market is taking place on the 17th and 18th of December.        

The annual Marche de Noel will be held at the Izmir’s Turkish French Cultural Center from December 15th till the 17th in Konak. The market will consist of 50 stands offering food and gifts and there will even be a visit from Santa Claus.   

In Ankara the Institut Francais de Turquie will be hosting a fantastic day filled with fun festive activities. Festivities will include Christmas carols, puppet shows, animation films for children and a market. The event will take place December 17th.

Bodrum’s annual Trafo Christmas Fair is taking place on December 18th this year. The popular holiday market is being held at the Trafo Café, a wonderful space which doubles as an exhibition and a cultural centre. There will be treats, gifts and handcrafts being sold. There will also be a grotto where children can come see Santa Claus himself.   

The Bodrum Hotel and Spa near Myndos Gate features a fabulous Tyro Italian Restaurant which will be hosting a two day fair called the Bodrum Senlik offering festivities and gift / food stands. The fair will begin December 17th.    

Popular beach club Pab Bodrum in Ortakent will be holding a New Years Bazaar. Work by local Artisans and designers will be displayed at the Bazaar on December 23rd and the 25th.
