When Turkey is discussed, more than often than not you will hear the town of Alanya discussed and today we ask ourselves why this is the case, and what it can offer when compared with the rest of Turkey.

Situated on the Mediterranean coast it forms part of the Antalya region and is the second most visited holiday destination in the country. Throughout the year it offers a host of activities and attractions which can intrigue the most intrepid explorer/holiday maker, and these include the Cleopatra Beach, Damlatas Cave, the Castle & Red Tower, Daily Boat Trips, Safari´s and water parks.

Ticking all the boxes, the region has invested heavily in their Transport Infrastructure and getting around is as easy as 1-2-3. There are 2 airports both of which are modern & efficient, with the busier of the two hosting domestic and International flights. A cross country bus service inter-connects the city with the rest of the Aegean & Mediterranean, and of course there are local taxis for in and around the city centre. The roads are also of excellent quality, petrol prices are decent, the highways get you into other areas of the country quickly and the coastal roads can offer alternative stunning views.

The unofficial name of Alanya, is the Citrus Capital of Turkey and so fertile soil conditions, an abundance of Olive groves and being situated so close to the sea, it paves the way for a fresh & healthy lifestyle. Weekly farmers markets are a highlight of the community & many restaurants use only the local produce, allowing you to sample some of the most delicious dishes around without breaking the bank. Don´t forget our very famous Turkish Delight which is present throughout the region.

Culturally Alanya is constantly growing and developing, however, over time it has managed superbly to hold onto its famed history, where Traditional lokantas make a roaring trade in the streets selling their hundred-year-old recipe´s & don´t miss out on the Turkish Bath´s where you can relax in tranquil environments whilst being pampered in the old traditional Turkish ways.

For those wishing to live here, there are already many nationalities that have decided to relocate and it´s become a very diverse, friendly & appealing part of the world. There is a plethora of apartments and villas to choose from, with prices starting from just £50,000. The Mahmutlar area is one of the most popular, due to the beach being right on the doorstep, its fabulous atmosphere and its mix of modern/rustic charm. Though many turn to buying for relocation purposes, there are also those who turn to the ever growing holiday market for short term and long term investment purposes, taking advantage of some of the highest rental returns the country has seen in a long while. Turkish Connextions are specialists in this area, and would be more than happy to help with your property search, if you too are considering buying here.

A true gem, and widely considered to be a ´jewel ‘of the Mediterranean Alanya is a must visit, so don´t just take our word for it, book a flight and come see the delights for yourself….
