The Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has stated that 2020 will be the year of Turkish cuisine. This has come to light as the Minister stated that the income for accommodation was at 10 billion USD while income for gastronomy was only at 5 billion USD.
The Minister has declared there needs to be a study on both revenues so he can see how the figures can then be balanced. The Minister is planning on bringing in corporates, associations and expert cooks and will be having menus redesigned and presented in the restaurants.
In other news the Minister has also stated that Turkey has a target of 1.5 million health tourists in health tourism for 2023 with revenue of up to 10 billion USD.
Minister Ersoy has said, “Turkey will be the first in the world with advanced diagnostic centers and health tourism liaison offices which will introduce services and orient patients directly to Turkey, in countries targeted for health tourism.”
Turkey will be opening its first phase consisting of 10 centres in Europe, Turkic Republics, Ukraine, North Africa, Russia and Gulf Countries. There will then be another 10 units in the second phase.
