Turkish airports served a total of 155.9 million passengers in the first ten months of this year, according to new figures just released by the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry of Turkiye. Not only was this an increase of just over 30% when compared to the same period last year, but it also demonstrates the effectiveness of the last 10-20 years of Aviation Investment in Turkiye.
Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu commented that 66.2m passengers were as a result of domestic flights whilst 89.3m passengers were as a result of International flights, and October this year was one of the busiest for arrivals and departures with just over 70,000 domestic flights and 70,021 international flights. He added that ‘including overpasses, 96% of the total aircraft traffic in October 2019 has already been reached’
In terms of passenger traffic during October, around 6.8m were domestic travellers and 10.99m were International travellers which in turn helped to contribute to already impressive tourism numbers & tourism economy for 2022. This was an increase of 14.1% when compared to the same month last year.
Istanbul’s two airports already saw a 64% increase in passenger numbers for the first 9 months of this year and in October, Istanbul’s main airports showed a total of 9,547 domestic airlines and 28,140 international airlines landing and taking off. This resulted in just under 6m passengers passing through the airport in total.
