The fabulous and luxurious resort town of Bodrum is hoping to attract a whopping 1.5 million tourists this year. The resort hosted a total of 1.3 million tourists before dropping to 530,000 during the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.

Just like countries all over the world Bodrum and many other resorts suffered during the pandemic. Mayor Ahmet Aras went onto state that as restrictions began to lift life gradually started to return to normal in many places and that Bodrum has made a good start to 2022.

For the past two years cruise ships have also been absent from the resort. Reports state that this year ships are expected to bring 206,000 tourists over into Bodrum.

Mayor Aras stated that ferry services from the Greek Islands have also began running again and that direct flights are in high demand. A total of 49 airlines across 35 countries will bring tourists to Bodrum Airport via direct flights. There will be new direct flights added by the end of Summer from Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Albania and Russia.

He went onto say “In other words, the number of tourists coming by sea and air will exceed that of 2019. We’re going to host more than 1.5 million foreign tourists this year.”
