The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates has been travelling round Turkey. Gates travelled around the Aegean on luxury yacht “Lana” as well as the logistics support vessel “Wayfinder.” Onlookers saw the luxury yacht anchor off a port in Kusadasi in the early morning.

Gates was seen boarding a private helicopter which travelled over to the Meryemana House (House of Virgin Mary) in Selcuk in Izmir. The stone structure is situated on the outskirts of the Bulbul Mountain. The site is a popular spot for Christian pilgrims since it was discovered back in the 19th century. The discovery was made after a nun Anna Catherine Emmerich had been having a series of visions. The house was built by the Apostle John and it is believed that the Virgin Mary passed away in the house.

Although the Vatican has never openly acknowlegde that this is where Mary’s death took place it has still been visited by three pontiffs in the 20th century and back in 2006 it was visited by former Pope Benedict XVI.

Gates then explored the Ephesus along with his private bodyguards.

This is in fact the second time that Gates has visited the House of Virgin Mary. He visited back in 2005 when he spent a holiday in Marmaris.
