Week 2!! And we are off to explore Turkey’s second most popular destination, Antalya!!

The fabulous Mediterranean resort of Antalya is one of the worlds best love tourist destinations and for good reason to!!

Antalya is filled with traditional Turkish culture, a bustling town centre, the most breath-taking beaches, modern shopping centres, a variety of 5 star hotels, terrific tourist attractions, a wonderful harbour, great night life and much much more.

The resort enjoys a backdrop of spectacular mountain ranges filled with mature pine trees making it a truly picturesque location. Plus it enjoys a perfect Mediterranean climate with glorious hot summers and cool winters.

Antalya’s town centre offers everything you could ever need. Its fabulous harbour is well worth a visit. The harbour is still quite traditional yet it now features a variety of great bars, restaurants serving the most delicous cuisine and terrific markets. You can sit back and enjoy a drink or a lovely meal while watching the yachts and boats come in.

You can always take a stroll into Antalya’s old town, Kaleici. The streets are filled with charm and character featuring beautiful architecture and sites, it is the perfect place to get away from the busy city. 

Antalya enjoys a number of beautiful beaches such as Cleopatra, Konyaalti and Lara Beach.Cleoptra beach offers beautiful landscaped and crystal clear waters. This beach is perfect for families as it is ideal for snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing. Sun beds, restaurants and cafes line the beach making it a great day out for everyone. Konyaalti beach is located to the west of the city. It is a shingle beach offering great cafes, restaurants and shops. Last but not least is Lara Beach, the most popular beach in Antalya located around 10 kilometres from the centre of the resort. Lara Beach is very popular with families and is usally very busy. This beautiful sandy blue flag beach offers clear blue waters, a long stretch of soft sand and offers plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes.    

Besides the beaches, Antalya also features some terrific sites that you will enjoy exploring. You can visit the Koprulu Canyon National Park located in the Manavgat district of Antalya. Koprulu Canyon goes on for 14 km along with the Koprucay River, reaching a maximum height of 400m. There is so much to do here. You can go rafting along the Koprucay River and under the historic Roman bridges, you can go hiking, there is much nature and wildlife to enjoy and there archaeological sites to explore.

Another great site is the Kursunlu Waterfalls. This is a small fall set within a cool, pine forest. Kursunlu Waterfall falls from about 10 m and forms a small pool filled with tortoises, crabs and fish. Besides taking in the beautiful view of the waterfall and its surroundings this is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic in a tranquil environment, you can go on a walk and explore the nature and observe the animal and plant life.

Antalya also offers a variety of lovely seaside resorts.

There is Kas, an attractive seaside resort that still maintains its typical Mediterranean fishing village vibe. The town has transformed into a fairly modern area over the years, yet it still shows its traditional theme with whitewashed houses covered in bright splashes of colourful bougainvillea. Kas offers many great sites including the ancient site of Antiphellos with its theatre and ruins.

Situated 42 km west of the city is the lovely town of Kemer. This pleasant resort town blends in with its beautiful surrounding scenery and makes an idyllic place for a holiday. Kemer enjoys a lovely beach promenade and a fabulous marina leading directly to a beautiful Blue flag beach.

The resort of Manavgat is located 72km from the Antalya city centre. It is famous for its river that runs through it, aswell as its waterfalls, all set within lush forests of the Taurus Mountains. Manavgat enjoys a beautiful landscaped riverside park which offers plenty of great restaurants, cafes and bars.

There is also Alanya, a truly modern town approximately two hours’ drive from Antalya. The resort offers a harbour, a historic castle, a cosmopolitan mix of lively bars running along the waterfront and two Blue Flag beaches which are separated by a towering peninsula.

We also have Side, a fabulous laid back, friendly coastal resort on the Mediterranean around 15kms east of Antalya on a small 800m length peninsula. It is a beautiful and historic town with modern architecture, chic boutiques and fashionable restaurants.

And lets not forget the golfing resort of Belek located 30km on the east side of Antalya on the Turkish Riviera. Belek is a purpose built, luxury resort surrounded by white sandy beaches and pine forests. But what it is really famous for is golf.

Antalya is a fast-growing city that can offer something for everyone!!
