Brand new concert hall opened by the Turkish Presidential Orchestra

December 3rd 2020 saw the Turkish Presidential Orchestra open a brand new concert hall in Ankara situated in the very heart of the city. The hall boasts a wonderful view of Ankara Castle and Turkey’s founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s Mausoleum.

This exciting new project has cost a 83 million euros to complete. The hall is set to host orchestras and solo artists from all around the globe. Audiences will be able to enjoy a variety of different genres of music. The concert sales for 2020-2021 have already gone on sale. Tickets will cost 100 TL for the first category, 70 TL for the second category and 50 TL for the third category, this category offers 50% discount to students, retirees, disabled, veterans and also relatives of soliders.  

At the opening, President Tayyip Erdogan said a few words. He stated that “the building would serve as a symbol of the country’s rich culture and arts.” He also said that “We have endeavored to embrace all kinds of works that will add value to the cultural and artistic life of our country and increase the diversity in this field.”

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehment Nuri Ersoy also spoke at the opening. He said “the new hall is the largest building ever constructed with a concert hall function in the country.” He also stated “The concert halls in the building were designed by world-renowned acoustic experts in accordance with the ‘natural acoustics’ principle and during the construction.”

Ersoy also stated that “the CSO has not only hosted art performance but also fulfilled an important function for the training of numerous artists and for the society to reach out to a certain level on music.”
